Choosing The Right Baby Girl Clothes For Every Occasion

Posted by Paula Heron on July 12th, 2009

Browsing through the kids clothes section in stores you are surrounded by pretty, frilly dresses, skirts and tops that are available for today’s well dressed little girl. It is very easy to get carried away buying a complete wardrobe of these items but it is also important to remember that cute as these outfits are, they are not always practical for every occasion.

All little girls love to dress up in their beautiful dresses and pretty shoes and socks. However, having seen a picture of a celebrity’s toddler dressed in a trendy designer dress and cardigan with a caption saying she was going for a play day with another celebrity’s sons reminded me that parents don’t always choose the appropriate kids clothes for the occasion.

It always astonished me that parents would send their little girl to preschool in long dresses and unpractical shoes. Most preschools have outdoor play areas with climbers, swing sets, bikes and other outdoor toys. To enjoy these activities kids need clothes that give them freedom of movement and do not present a hazard.

There were many ways in which I saw accidents occur: a long dress or skirt would be trapped in a bike wheel and result in a fall. Other children found it difficult to avoid treading on long skirts or dresses. A girl’s enjoyment of the slide soon came to an end if her dress became entangled with part of the slide and caused an accident.

But it goes far beyond preschool. Even if they are not quite so fancy or fashionable, unisex clothing such as shorts or pants are far more suitable for that trip to the park or the fairground inflatable ride or even your Disney World exploration. All of these include physical activities such as running, jumping and climbing - and in this age of equality, doesn’t everyone agree that girls get just as much out of this type of fun as boys do?

Another reason for not putting trendy dresses on your child for these activities is the wear and tear factor. Imagine how upset she will be if she is wearing one of her favorite dresses to preschool and they are doing arts and crafts that day and she accidentally gets paint on her dress. Or if she is playing outdoors and her dress gets ripped.

Based on my experience as a preschool owner, please make sure that your little girl is outfitted in the sort of clothes that match the activities she has scheduled. For those times when she is going to take part in physical activities and play, or when she plans to enjoy practical fun such as painting or craft work, let her wear something that in not too precious and expensive.

There are lots of occasions when your daughter can wear her pretty clothes such as birthday parties, visiting relatives or even when shopping. So remember when you are buying those cool trendy baby clothes and kids clothes to also get some inexpensive practical ones as well.

Essential Newborn Baby Clothes

Posted by Paula Heron on April 10th, 2009

Anticipating the arrival of a new baby is highly exciting and also demanding. In addition to making sure the nursery is set up and equipped, one major job is to make sure you have enough newborn baby clothes.

There are now lots of specialist baby stores such as Babies R Us where you can find everything under one roof. And stores such as Wal-Mart, Target and Burlington Coat Factory also have specialist baby sections where again you can find everything for your new baby. At least when everything is under one roof you don’t have to trek from store to store.

Expectant parents know that there are certain basic things they need when the baby comes home such as a crib, a stroller a car seat ad maybe a play yard. But what about the baby clothes? What are the essentials? How many do you need?

There is no definitive number of clothes you need for your new baby whether they are baby boy clothes or baby girl clothes. Experienced moms would suggest that practical, easily laundered baby clothes make life a lot simpler in the first few weeks. Baby clothes that are easy to put on and make diaper changing easier are good.

Practical baby clothes are all that your newborn and you need in the early weeks there will be plenty of time for the more trendy baby clothes when you’ve both got the hang of this dressing business! Below is a list of ten items considered essential for a new baby.

* 5-10 onesies - you may want more, the plain ones are great under tops and pants and there are some really cute ones for the warmer weather.

* Use baby one piece sleeper suits in the first few weeks during the day - you’ll need 5-10 of these.

* Baby gowns: 4 or 5 because they are invaluable when you’re up in the night dealing with diaper changes. I would have made great use of these gowns when I had newborn babies.

* To soak up the dribble and drool that newborn babies produce, get 5-10 bibs.

* Burp cloths: lots and lots of these so that your clothes are protected and you’re not constantly changing yourself as well as baby.

* 5 pairs of socks - little feet get cold even in a warm climate.

* 2 hats - it depends on the time of year your baby is born and the climate you live in as to type of hat i.e. knitted hat or sun hat.

* 1 coat, appropriate to the weather and season where you live.

* Hooded towels: 2-3. One will keep baby snug and warm after a bath.

* Avoid the scratches that babies are so good at inflicting on themselves by having at least two pairs of cotton mittens.

Every baby’s needs and habits are different so the list of newborn baby clothes above cannot be exact. In particular, the frequency with which you wish to change your baby will add or subtract from the numbers. Nevertheless, I recommend that you use the list as a general guide to make the jobs of diaper changing and baby dressing as simple as possible, then add to it any additional outfits that you want for special occasions.

Reasons To Choose Tottler Clothing For A New Tottler Gift

Posted by Johan Santana on March 4th, 2009

When it comes to buying a gift for a baby shower, baby clothes are always a good choice. Even when you don’t know the sex of the baby, getting a selection of cute gender neutral pajamas and onesies will help the mom and dad to be have everything that they need for their new addition to their family.

A new parent is literally swamped with things that they must do and buy for their new baby. The nursery has to be prepared, bottles must be bought and there are more accessories that go with a baby than you will find in the accessory department of your favorite clothing store. The wardrobe is one area for concern as new parents struggle to get everything ready for the new baby. Baby clothes can help them build up a wardrobe for their little bundle of joy and you can help with that.

Buying some baby clothes in a few sizes is always a thoughtful gift. There is nothing worse than watching a baby grow out of their clothes and realize that you have nothing in the house that fits them properly anymore. Buying baby clothes that will last for a few months into their first year is a way to further help out the parents.

The baby clothes department of your local clothing store is a fun place to shop. There are some fabulous outfits for the little darlings that you will enjoy buying. It’s even more fun if you know whether you are buying for a girl or a boy. Buy something dressy for the new baby because there will be plenty of occasions for bringing the new baby out.

Typically shoes are not a good idea for your baby shower gift. Parents generally like to buy those on their own because a first pair of shoes is pretty important for the child.

Your baby shower gift of baby clothes will be a welcome gift for parents who have a great deal on their shoulders. The purpose of a baby shower is to help out the parents and give them some of the things that they need for the upcoming birth of their child. Even though baby clothes are a fun gift to give, it is also a very practical gift.
